they say we don't remember days
it's the moments we recall
for me it's the silences that seem to erode, erode…
i guess you didn't know what to say back then
has turned to now
and I'm still
i'm still left wondering how i fit in
what part have i played in your life
you're unhappy with the cards you've been dealt
you can fold that hand anytime
and try, try one more time
to say
to shape the silences
we never could seem to connect
a futile pursuit was evident
with our different objectives, interests and ways, ways of doing ..
but in every leaf is a pattern of the tree
in turn that must mean there's a history
a history of you in me ... wrapped up in me
what part have i played in your life
you're unhappy with the cards you've been dealt
you can fold that hand anytime
and try, try one more time for my sake
i know you were younger then, and maybe naïve
but making excuses is not on our side
'cause i don't even know how to say "love"
it's like walking for the very first time
we will never know the damage we've done ...
the price we have paid
for the silence
in this lifetime….
i'm halfway through mine

Indigo Sky
05:24
|
|||
tired of running for the train
tired of these streets and days
tired of the go go go and money on my brain
i see myself piece by piece slipping away
tired of the have – to – have parade
daunting is the task of getting ahead
look out for number one, back to your shell
separation is our expense
there’s an urgency ……. to breathe
an urgency. ……. to be
under an indigo sky met by a beautiful rain
and over the simplest of terms we will converse
with a new frame of mind
our heads are clear and our hands are untied
we’re free to roam in the indigo
accumulate more or want less
the question i pose is heavy on my mind
simplicity is my necessity at hand
so take me to where i can be ………
there’s an urgency ……. to breathe
an urgency. ……. to be

Call it Life
04:09
|

call it life, call it off
i’ll sit this one out
out of sight out of mind
surely out of touch and luck
you leave the room
find your way to the lobby door
i would call out your name
but you wouldn’t hear me anyway
anymore
the door is closed halfway between you and i
i forgot to tow the line
you forgot to hold your own
bit by bit this thing called life
it comes undone
don’t close your eyes in the wake of a new routine
give it one more chance to smile
it may be that life
it’s not what you thought it would be
but that’s alright
the door is closed halfway between you and i

These Walls
05:48
|

take it from here, my love
cinch up those boots
and head to the next point of view
the flowers are dying
and their fragrance melts
into these walls
just like your eyes
dust the dirt off of your skin
pull up a chair
feel it all settle in
the flowers are dying
and their fragrance melts
into these walls
just like your eyes

Gravel Lines
05:50
|
|||
what do you expect from me after these takes, after this
what do you dream in the afternoon
i'll never know what's in your head
out past the cars on the railway
out past the city's finery
we see our breath and connection
underneath these gravel lines
you …. you stole a page from the blanks
how do you weigh all of our fears
typical, isn't it typical
that someone like me would invite you in
we took a drive in the country
your photographs were never mine
slapped in the face by the questions
posed by these gravel lines
out past the cars on the railway
out past the city's finery
we see our breath and connection
underneath these gravel lines
